Coping with Anxiety. Anxiety is not a one stop shop as it comes in many different forms and to make it even harder to figure out; two people could have the same situation of anxiety but will most likely react to it completely different.
If you think you are a minority in coping with anxiety, trust me my friend; you are not alone. Almost everyone will once in their life feel some form of anxiety, stress or depression and for many it happens way too often.
Are you always looking for ways to either cure or control those states of anxiety you go through? Well hopefully we can help you figure it out. Coping with Anxiety is not that difficult once you have learned the methods for doing so.
What do you worry about? Is it your family, your children, your job, the economy, or the weather? I could go on and on as the list of anxiety triggers are limitless. But don’t think all anxiety is bad. Have you ever been coping with anxiety before a big test or a big game and found out that it made you study harder or even train harder? Consider this a good thing where anxiety actually helped you.
Taking the same scenario as above, if the anxiety level increases to a state of panic, it will hinder our study or workout patterns. This is what we call panic attacks and is what you must learn to control, this is the coping with anxiety part.
Do you really need to worry as much as you do? Is it really productive to worry that much? Have you heard the saying “Worrying gets you nowhere”? How much of what you worry about do you really control?
Back in 1969 I was 17 when my father committed suicide. It took me a long time and a fair bit of help to get over it. What it did teach me was nothing that happened to me could be any worse, so what was the point of worrying about it. On top of that, whatever I did worry about never turned out to be as bad as I imagined it to be.
I learned to live by what I Like to call the 80 –20 rule (very loosely based on the Pareto Principle). Basically this says that 80% of everything that happens to us is not in our control. The other 20% is under our control and we have choices on how we deal with it.
Coping With Anxiety
So knowing now what we know, let’s look at some of the ways we can reduce the anxiety in our lives. First off, we now know about the 80-20 rule, so how about we start only worrying about the 20% we can control. When a situation arises, ask yourself “Is this part of the 80% or part of the 20%, Is it something I have control over?”
Let’s say, you have to be at a function at a specific time but you run into traffic that is going to make you late. Is this something you can control (the 20%) or something that you can’t control (the 80%). Is it really going to help you to get there quicker if you start getting anxious and upset about the situation? Just sit back and accept there is nothing you can do.
Now think about all the incidents in your day that occur that resemble that of the traffic jam and figure out what ones you do not have control over. Anxiety for things you cannot control is not healthy and is definitely counter-productive.
Secondly, getting enough sleep and eating balanced diet can make a big difference in your stress level and your coping with anxiety levels.
For the third suggestion, let me ask you a few questions. If your car breaks down, do you try and fix it yourself or do you take it to a mechanic? If your children are sick, do you try and heal them yourself or do you take them to a doctor? I think the answers are pretty obvious.
So if you are suffering from extreme anxiety or panic attacks why are you trying to fix it yourself? Get help, be it professional face to face, or through guides written by those who know. Also, enlist someone you can really trust and confide in them. Many times just talking about it will help you hear the situation in a different light that may lead to a solution.
There are many natural solutions available to you, like learning specific methods to control the anxiety triggers as well as natural herbs. You may want to try these before you go to prescription drugs.
As I stated above, coping with anxiety does not have to be difficult but the most important thing in everything said above is; YOU CAN’T IT ALONE, so don’t try. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt – It doesn’t work!
If You Are Interested
There are many books, audio and video programs on the internet to help you deal with your anxiety/panic attacks but only a few that I would even remotely recommend to you. The one at the top of my list is called Panic-Away.
I know you are thinking, who the heck am I to recommend anything to you. Well, like you, I have been through the panic attacks, the stress and depression. I was able to pull myself through with a lot of help from my very patient friends and especially my wonderful wife. I did not use this program, as it was not out at the time, but I have read and gone through the complete program and can relate to almost everything that it has.
Barry McDonough, the author a former sufferer himself, explains something he calls “The One Move” method. This method teaches the anxiety sufferer that they no longer need to fear the occurrence of another panic attack. A panic attack can result in a fear of situations or circumstances that would not normally require a fear response.
Psychologists agree that when a person has anxiety of a certain situation, they may suffer from a panic attack. This person then fears that specific location or event. When they find themselves in a similar situation, they fear the onset of an attack and essentially cause themselves to have an anxiety attack in the process. With Panic Away, it teaches you how to conquer these fears, and end this vicious cycle!
There is extensive research into the science and physical aspects behind panic attacks, and clues as to what may trigger them. These programs not only offer solutions and cures, but will also help you to understand the problem, while you are working on curing your anxiety.
The program consists of 254 page ebook, CDs and an HD DVD. It is definitely worth a try and on top of all that, Barry will give you a full 8 week money back guarantee. So if you re not completely satisfied, just return it for a complete refund.
Take a look and see what you think, you won’t be sorry. See you on the other side.

Your 90-10 rule is very interesting. Thank you for explaining what that rule is. I have never heard anything like it.
I am always stressing about school, work, and spending time with friends and family. It seems like I never have time for anything or myself. I get very little sleep each day. Anxiety problems has been a problem for me for awhile.
